Familiaritas

familaritas

The familiars are spiritual disciples of the monastery who strive for a deeper Christian life and support the purpose and orientation of the Holy Trinity Monastery. In the monastery they have their spiritual father and support the sanctuary through a regular contribution. Daily prayer, reading of Holy Scripture, engagement with the Orthodox holy Tradition, and a corresponding ethos of life are the prerequisites for a person to become a “well-pleasing dwelling place of God”. In this way the spiritual disciple becomes a friend of God and a leaven of sanctification and renewal for the people.

Membership in the Familiaritas of the monastery includes, or presupposes, full membership in the Orthodox Church. Familiars who live near the monastery take part in the public services. Those who live too far away attend services in any Orthodox church at their place of residence, regardless of nationality, language, or jurisdiction (all Orthodox churches are one), and maintain their connection with the monastery through visits on appropriate occasions such as confession and spiritual instruction, or on special church feasts such as Holy Week and Easter.

freunde

Every year there are work weeks during which familiars and friends help out in the monastery.

Supporters

The Holy Trinity Monastery, more than many other ecclesiastical or cultural institutions, is economically dependent on itself alone. It receives no support from church, state, or other organisations, nor any backing for emergencies. The monks receive neither salary nor other assistance, not even for their pastoral and priestly service. The sanctuary is sustained and maintained by the work of the monks. Your donation and your support are especially necessary and valuable here.

The monastery is a charitable foundation. Donations and contributions may be deducted from taxes within the legal regulations. As a supporter, one assists the sanctuary through a voluntary monthly contribution, regardless of denomination or church affiliation. In this way one helps to preserve the sanctuary as a place of spirit, prayer, silence, and renewal of Christian culture for Germany, so that the eternal Mystery may also appear among our people in this time, live, and be carried forward.
