Ways to Support

The diverse and long-term tasks of the charitable foundation “Deutsches Orthodoxes Dreifaltigkeitskloster” depend to a high degree on donations and contributions. The sanctuary receives neither state nor church subsidies, nor does it enjoy any financial security from other institutions, but lives, as in the times of the early Church, solely from the work of the fathers and voluntary donations. The fathers themselves also receive no salary, but work entirely on an honorary basis, grounded in monastic total offering and consecration to God.

There are various ways to support the foundation - and with it the sanctuary, those consecrated to God, and the renewal of spirit and culture among our people that proceeds from it. In this, foundation law assists you through a reduction of your tax burden.

A) Donation

Please transfer one-time or standing donations directly to our donations account:

If applicable, please state your address and intended purpose. After receipt of the donation, an appropriate certificate for the tax office will be issued to you.

  1. Free donation. Donations to the foundation “Deutsches Orthodoxes Dreifaltigkeitskloster” benefit the foundation once and in full and are used, in accordance with the purpose of the foundation, wherever they are currently most needed.

  2. Earmarked donation. By specifying a purpose, you can support individual projects that are especially close to your heart, whether an upcoming book publication, a column for the temple, a sound documentation of German Choral Chant, or a liturgical vestment … We are happy to present current projects to you and to inform you about the area you are supporting.

  3. Waiver of compensation for services. If a company performs work for the foundation or supplies material (for example building materials) and waives payment or remuneration for the services rendered, the foundation “Deutsches Orthodoxes Dreifaltigkeitskloster” can issue an appropriate confirmation that is recognized by the tax office for reducing the company’s tax burden.

B) Endowment contribution

With your endowment contribution, you increase the basic capital of the foundation “Deutsches Orthodoxes Dreifaltigkeitskloster”. The basic capital is in principle inalienable and remains preserved permanently. The income from the basic capital is used fully and directly for the foundation’s work in accordance with its statutes.
Unlike a donation, an endowment contribution lays the foundation for long-term and reliable financing of the tasks and blessed work of the sanctuary.

C) Testamentary disposition

Your last will can be the beginning of a help that endures forever, by which you support the life and work of the German Orthodox sanctuary across generations. By appointing the foundation “Deutsches Orthodoxes Dreifaltigkeitskloster” as heir or co-heir, you strengthen - as with an endowment contribution - the inalienable basic capital of the foundation and thus secure the long-term and lasting fulfillment of the foundation’s purpose. You yourself determine what part of your estate - cash assets, securities, real estate, forest, or agricultural land - you bequeath to the foundation “Deutsches Orthodoxes Dreifaltigkeitskloster” and in what form this should take. Your legacy remains undiminished and unfolds its full effect, since the foundation “Deutsches Orthodoxes Dreifaltigkeitskloster” is charitable and exempt from gift and inheritance tax.

Remembrance of founders and benefactors

At the monastery, a book of founders and benefactors is kept, in which the names are recorded of those who have contributed to the building and life of the sanctuary through foundations, endowment contributions, or extraordinary unpaid labour. At the corresponding points of the divine service, as well as in special memorial services for the departed (Soul Saturday, Pentecost), the names of the departed founders and benefactors are mentioned. Quite apart from this, the monks regularly pray for the founders, donors, and benefactors of the sanctuary.
